Powerful Win For Thunder

Oklahoma City had one of its worst shooting nights of the NBA Jerseys season. The way the Thunder played defense, hardly anyone noticed.Except the Miami Heat, that is.
Kevin Durant scored 29 points on 12 for 21 shooting, Russell Westbrook added 18 and the Thunder frustrated Miami’s offense all night on the way to a 96-85 victory over the Miami Heat Jersey on Wednesday night.James Harden scored 12 points for the Thunder, who have won five straight. Oklahoma City shot just 40 percent, and had been 7-13 when connecting on less than 43 percent of its chances this season. It didn’t matter Wednesday after holding the Heat to 38.5 percent shooting, plus having a dominating 24-10 edge in second-chance points.Chris Bosh had 21 points and 11 rebounds, Dwyane Wade scored 21 points and LeBron James finished with 19 for the Heat, who had won three straight and were averaging 114 points in their last two games. And the Heat were hopping mad as this one slipped away.Miami had a chance with 3½ minutes left, Wade getting the ball in transition and the Heat down by seven. He missed a layup and contended he got fouled — replays showed he clearly had a case, with Serge Ibaka grabbing him from behind — but nothing was called. That is, until Wade overreacted. He slammed his hand into the padding around the basket support, an unusual display for him, and Greg Willard responded with a technical after Harden made a 3-pointer. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra earned a technical as well, Durant jersey made one of the two free throws, and the Thunder lead was 11 with 3:11 left. The loss reduced the almost-nonexistent margin for error Miami has in the Eastern Conference, where the No. 3 seed looks like it will be reality entering the playoffs. The Heat (46-22) are now three games behind Chicago and Boston in the race for the No. 1 seed, but in actuality, the gap is wider than that. Chicago and Boston both are four games ahead in the loss column, plus hold tiebreakers over Miami.Oklahoma City (44-23) stayed 3½ games ahead of Denver for No. 4 in the Western Conference.

Warriors’ David Lee to undergo elbow surgery

(11-12) 04:00 PST CHICAGO – –
After being blown out by the Bulls on Thursday, the Warriors pointed to tonight’s game at Milwaukee as the defining game of their road trip.
Finish the roadie 3-2: success. Finish the roadie 2-3: failure.
It might be time to make a slight adjustment to that goal.
Power forward David Lee did not travel with the team from Chicago to Milwaukee on Friday, NBA Jerseys instead returning to the Bay Area for surgery to clean out an infection from the inside of his left elbow.
The Warriors said the surgery will be performed by Dr. Frank Chen in Fremont, but they were unable to release a timetable for a return to the court. Early estimates are that Lee will miss about two weeks.
“Win or lose, we need to come out with more energy and a better focus,” point guard Stephen Curry said. “We need to have a little more fight in us. Things might not go our way offensively, but we can control our defense every night.
“That’s the test for us.”
The test is finding a rebounding appetite without Lee’s incessant will and 11.3 average. The test is finding defensive continuity without Lee’s constant communication and assurance.
Lee missed Thursday’s game after he spent the morning in a Chicago emergency room, getting an IV, a series of antibiotics and a battery of tests. The night before, he made a successful return (28 points, 10 rebounds) to New York, where he spent his first five seasons, but had to play through a deep elbow wound that bled through three layers of athletic tape.
That kind of passion lacked from the Warriors against Chicago. They were outrebounded in each of the four quarters, and they allowed the Bulls to shoot 50 percent or better from the floor in every quarter.
Those things need to change against Milwaukee. Those things will have to change without the Warriors’ energy-changer.
“I’d like to see a sense of urgency, a team that authentic NFL jerseys comes out and attacks from the start of the game,” wing Dorell Wright said.
“We’re off to a good start, but that doesn’t mean anything if we win six games and struggle for the rest of the year,” forward Vladimir Radmanovic said.

Miami Heat still a work in progress

The process of team building seemed to momentarily turn into unscripted panic for the Heat on Thursday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. There were signs of dysfunction.
Guard Dwyane Wade swung his fist into the air out of frustration, summing up without words his rudderless performance.
Forward Udonis Haslem, who played brilliantly off the bench, NBA Jerseys outwardly scowled with anger and disappointment when a teammate failed on a defensive challenge.
Forward Chris Bosh watched under the rim as Celtics 6-1 guard Rajon Rondo slashed through the Heat’s defense to throw down a dunk.
Boston shot 56.3 percent from three-point range (9 of 16) while the Heat was 3 of 16 from long distance for 18.8 percent.
For the second game in a row, the Heat played with the rhythm of a novice musician strumming an instrument in all the wrong ways. Too heavy here. Tepid tonality there. Poor pacing throughout.
“We have competitive, prideful guys in the locker room that love that competition, and so far we’ve proven we’re not there — right now,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “We will be. Our guys feel that. They sense it. But they also understand we also have to go through a series of steps to get to that point.”
After a 5-4 start to the season, including two losses in a row at home, the Heat is still very much a work in progress. Three losses in four games have represented baby steps, but the Heat can take a leap forward Saturday. The Heat plays the Toronto Raptors at 7:30 p.m. at AmericanAirlines Arena. It’s a critical early season game for the Heat, which should have an opportunity to figure a few things out before hosting point guard Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
“This process is not going to happen overnight, and there are some pieces and moving pieces that we have to adjust,” said Spoelstra, who indicated Friday that possible changes to the Heat’s lineup are being evaluated.
NOT PANIC TIME YET
Spoelstra and his players insist it is way too early to panic, and that this new team will soon find its way. In the meantime, energy and passion must compensate for a lack of cohesion and players still unfamiliar with their roles.
On Thursday night against the Celtics, Spoelstra was looking for a spark in the first half and went deep into his bench to find it. Little-used reserves Jerry Stackhouse and Mario Chalmers logged minutes, and guard Eddie House kept the game manageable with nine points off the bench.
To begin the second half, backup center Zydrunas Ilgauskas started in place of Joel Anthony, who finished the game with less than eight minutes next to his name in the boxscore. Starting point guard Carlos Arroyo played less than 11 minutes Thursday and never entered the game in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, Discount NFL Jerseys Heat forward LeBron James played over 44 minutes against the Celtics and never got a rest during the second half. After the game, James pointed out that he might have played too many minutes. His performance in the fourth quarter would support that notion.
James was 2-of-7 shooting in the fourth quarter of the Heat’s 112-107 loss to Boston. Represented in James’ fourth-quarter numbers were one airball from three-point range and another long-distance attempt from the corner that hit the side of the backboard. While James might have done too much, teammate Dwyane Wade didn’t do enough. He scored eight points in more than 40 minutes while recording just one rebound, three assists and six turnovers.
“My plan was to take [James] out, and we had a couple discussions about that, but we kept on getting close enough and every time I looked at the bench, I looked away,” Spoelstra said. “I’d like to get him more rest. That was the plan. The game just didn’t turn out that way. Dwyane, cheap football jerseys I was trying to get him a little rest, too, but they’re too competitive.”
ADJUSTMENT PERIOD
There was a light practice Friday with a long film session. James compared his adjustment period with the Heat to his time with the U.S. men’s national team. James, Wade and Bosh helped lead the U.S. to a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
“It was complicated at times when I first came to the USA team because I came from Cleveland, where I was mostly . . . where I knew the ball would touch my hands at one point in the possession,” James said. “So, as the days went on with the Olympic team and the weeks went on — those 40 days that we were together — I started to figure out what would be best for the team; what would be better for myself, and I was able to be comfortable, and I know it will happen here, too.”

Golden State Warriors’ losing effort against Chicago Bulls has heavy odor

CHICAGO — The face of Warriors forward Vladimir Radmanovic told it all.
Sitting at his locker postgame, ice on his knees, he stared at the official box score. The expression on his face looked as if he’s smelled a skunk.
The Warriors’ 120-90 loss to the Chicago Bulls was no doubt a stinker.
“It’s not just that we started out bad,” Radmanovic said. “We played bad throughout the whole game. After a certain point, it was impossible to get back into the game. They got in a rhythm, and we were doing the complete opposite of what we were trying to accomplish in the game.”
On offense, the Warriors shot 41.1 percent from the field, turned the ball over 19 times and attempted just seven free throws. On defense, they allowed the Bulls to shoot 54.8 percent. They let forward Luol Deng (26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists) and point guard Derrick Rose (22 points and 13 assists) have their way.
But a few players weren’t wiling to completely blame the loss on the fact it was the Warriors’ fourth game in five nights. Nor were they hanging on the fact that starting power forward David Lee was out with a lacerated elbow. Instead, they expressed disappointment that they didn’t compete harder.
“No excuse for playing that bad,” point guard Stephen Curry after totaling 17 points, six assists, five steals and five turnovers. “We might not have won the game, but we can definitely play better than what we did.”
Wright, who finished with 12 points and eight rebounds: “This brings us back down. It just lets us know that we are not where we want to be right now. The Bulls are a playoff team, so we have to come with better effort. Against good teams, NBA Jerseys we can’t come out lazy and turn the ball over because it can get ugly out there.”
It got ugly in a hurry at the United Center. The game was tied 8-8 when Chicago ripped off an 8-0 run. Three Warriors turnovers led to three Bulls layups during the spurt.
The Warriors cut the deficit to 20-16, but Chicago went on another surge. Over the last 4:07 of the first quarter, the Warriors were outscored 14-4.
Down 34-20 entering the second quarter, the Warriors were still within striking distance. But not for long. Rose opened the quarter with a layup and a jumper, then set up a Keith Bogans jumper. The Warriors were down 20.
They went 4 for 15 over the first seven minutes of the quarter. At the 2:49 mark, after a fast-break layup by Ronnie Brewer, set up when Bogans intercepted a Curry pass, the Warriors trailed 61-31.
“I thought we benefited from them playing last night,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said, “and David Lee being out.”
Several players acknowledged that such a game is inevitable in an 82-game season, but the Warriors couldn’t afford to write it off. It helps that even after their performance Thursday, they are 6-3 and still have a chance to make this a winning five-game road trip.
But the key, several players said, cheap football jerseys is whether they learn from Thursday’s blowout loss.
“There’s nothing we can do about it now,” Radmanovic said. “But we have to understand that the team we’re trying to become, it’s not going to be easy. We lost by 30. It’s not the end of the world, but we just have to come out smarter next game and figure out a way to play better and play better with each other.”

Warriors prevail over pain,Knicks

(11-10) 04:00 PST NEW YORK – –
A balky back.
A bloody nose.
An elbow full of stitches.
The Warriors are going to have quite an injury report to show for Wednesday’s gutsy 122-117 victory over the Knicks that made for David Lee’s successful return to Madison Square Garden, NBA Jerseys where he played his first five seasons.
More importantly, overcoming all of the bumps and bruises represents the fortitude necessary to win road games – something that has been sorely lacking from the Warriors for the better part of a decade.
Golden State won consecutive road games for the first time since April 2009, when it beat Sacramento and Utah six days apart. The Warriors came into the game against New York tied for 25th in the league with 101 road victories since the 2002-03 season.
“There’s no doubt that we’re tougher,” point guard Stephen Curry said. “You saw how we played last year, cheap football jerseys and we wouldn’t have won a game like this. We would have probably just lied down and died, but this is a different team.”
The old one almost returned.
The Warriors watched a 19-point, second-half lead evaporate because of lackadaisical play, poor transition defense and the loss of their rebounding hunger. The Knicks tied it 107-107 on back-to-back three-point plays with 3:49 left.
After the Warriors fell behind 113-111 with two minutes left, Dorell Wright made a three-pointer and scored off an offensive rebound on consecutive possessions to put them ahead 116-113 with 59 seconds remaining. A Lee free throw and two by Curry made it 118-113 with 16.8 seconds to go.
It made Monta Ellis’ performance worth it. Just one game after a scary fall that caused him to stay overnight in Toronto for medical tests on his lower back, Ellis had 22 points, six assists and four steals in 41 minutes.
“When the players saw him at shootaround, I thought it lifted their spirits and they started to believe,” head coach Keith Smart said.
It made Curry’s performance (25 points, eight assists and six rebounds) worth it. Twice – once for a bloody nose and once for a bloody elbow – play was stopped to attend to the point guard.
“Monta’s play was an example of what we’re trying to do here,” Curry said. “He sacrificed his body and his health.”
It made Lee’s performance (28 points, 10 rebounds) worth it. The power forward’s elbow caught Wilson Chandler in the mouth, knocking out two teeth and leaving a gash in Lee’s arm. Even with three layers of tape over the wound, blood was finding a way to the surface.
“I could actually see the bone popping out through the skin,” Lee said. “It’ll probably require a few stitches, so I’ll get to deal with the Knicks’ medical staff again. I just wanted to hang out with them a little more.”
Briefly: Asked if he wanted to make a point in his first game against Golden State since the Warriors shipped him to New York this summer, Anthony Randolph said “Yeah, it’s just too bad that somebody else isn’t sitting on their bench.” NHL Hockey Jerseys For those who didn’t follow Randolph’s first two seasons, he and former coach Don Nelson didn’t have the best of relationships. … Ronny Turiaf and Kelenna Azubuike, the other players in the Golden State-New York deal, didn’t play because of knee injuries.

Of note: Chicago power forward Carlos Boozer is still out with a broken right hand. … The Bulls and the Warriors have split the season series nine out of the past 10 times, but Chicago has beaten Golden State seven of the past eight times at home. … Through Tuesday, point guard Derrick Rose was ninth in the league with 23.8 points a game, and center Joakim Noah was first with 15.0 rebounds.

Parker leads Spurs to 17th consecutive victory over Clippers

Spurs guard Tony Parker goes to the basket past Clippers center Chris Kaman during the first half for two of his 19 points.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The San Antonio Spurs have a better bench this season according to coach Gregg Popovich, which should allow him to better manage the minutes he rations out to veterans Tim Duncan (FSY), Tony Parker (FSY) and Manu Ginobili (FSY) and preserve their aging legs.
Parker had 19 points and nine assists in the Spurs’ 97-88 victory on Monday night, their 17th consecutive win over the Clippers. Richard Jefferson (FSY) scored 18 points and reserve Gary Neal (FSY) had 16. San Antonio’s reserves outscored their Clippers counterparts 25-0 before rookie forward Al-Farouq Aminu (FSY) got the first points by the Los Angeles bench on a layup with 10:07 to play.
GAME REPORT: Spurs 97, Clippers 88
Brazilian rookie Tiago Splitter (FSY), the first player off the Spurs’ bench, spent only seven minutes on the court during the first three quarters and scored his only points on a driving dunk 27 seconds in. The basket triggered an 8-2 spurt that increased San Antonio’s lead to 83-67 with 9:05 to play.
“Our bench is a lot better. If Gary Neal and James Anderson (FSY) can keep playing like that, our bench is going to be pretty good this year,” Parker said. “Gary made some shots and James made some shots and played some good defense. That’s all we can ask. Now we just need somebody inside, so we hope that Tiago can learn fast and bring positive plays every time he’s in.”
Splitter is one of three rookies coach Gregg Popovich is going with in his rotation, along with Anderson and Neal.
“I think he has to. After all those years with so many vets, I think it’s time for us to rebuild,” Parker said. “We have great young guys, and we have to throw them into the fire — like Pop did with me and Ginobili when we first came up. We have to be patient with them. Obviously we’re going to have to live with their mistakes, but at the end of the day, they’ll make more good plays than bad plays.”
Neal, who was struggling with his jumper during the preseason, is 9-for-16 from the field during his first three NBA games.
“I’m feeling pretty good about my game,” he said after making six of 10 shots overall and four of eight from three-point range. “Since I got here, Coach Pop has given me the green light to shoot open shots. So if that doesn’t make you feel comfortable, nothing will.”
Eric Gordon (FSY) had 23 points and a career-high 11 assists for the 0-4 Clippers, who have dropped 25 of the last 26 meetings with San Antonio. The only exception was March 7, 2006, an 98-85 victory at Staples Center in which Duncan was limited to 16 points in 29 minutes because of foul trouble. The Spurs beat the Clippers by an average of 22 points in the four meetings last season, and never by fewer than 16.
Clippers point guard Baron Davis (FSY) sat out because of a sore left knee. The 12th-year veteran told reporters before game time that he hoped to be back in the lineup for Wednesday night’s home game against Oklahoma City. Backup point guard Randy Foye (FSY) missed his second consecutive game after straining his left hamstring during Saturday’s practice, so Eric Bledsoe (FSY) got his first NBA start and nine points and three assists in 39 minutes.
“The young guards worked hard in trying to push the tempo tonight,” coach Vinny Del Negro (FSY) said. “It’s a process for them. I liked Eric Gordon’s aggressiveness tonight. He has the ability t be aggressive as a point guard. Eric Bledsoe worked hard and made some steals.”
San Antonio was leading 29-26 when Spurs forward George Hill (FSY) missed a driving layup and had his legs taken out from under him by Clippers reserve forward Craig Smith (FSY), causing him to crash to the court neat the visiting bench and injure his right shoulder. Smith was charged with a flagrant 2 foul and an automatic ejection. The play began when Hill intercepted a pass by Smith.
“It was dirty. Just a dirty play,” Parker said. “That was dangerous. There’s no need to do that.”
Hill wasn’t able to take his free throws, making him ineligible for the rest of the game, and Ginobili made one of two from the line. The incident occurred during a 13-0 run that turned a five-point Clippers lead into a 34-26 advantage for the Spurs with 10 minutes left in the half.
“It’s his trapazoid muscle,” Popovich said. “It’s not like his shoulder’s out of joint or out of place, I don’t think. He’s just stiff and he can’t turn his head or his neck. It could take a while, but it could be a whole lot worse.”
NOTES: Del Negro played six seasons with San Antonio, including Duncan’s rookie season, and the Spurs’ record against the Clippers during that time was 17-7. … Willie Warren (FSY), a 6-4 guard and a teammate of Clippers rookie Blake Griffin (FSY) at Oklahoma during the 2008-09 season, was activated by before the game because of Davis’ injury and made his NBA debut after three games on the inactive list. … Warren, who led the Sooners last season with a 16.3 scoring average, is the fourth player to wear No. 13 for the Clippers during their 27 seasons in Los Angeles — along with Quinton Ross (FSY), Bryan Warrick and current ESPN analyst Mark Jackson. … Starting C DeJuan Blair (FSY) played 19 scoreless minutes for the Spurs. … Duncan’s 14 points increased his career total to 20,685, putting him 23 shy of former Spurs great George Gervin for 32nd place all-time and within 105 of former teammate David Robinson (FSY) for 31st. … San Antonio’s 721-316 record since Duncan joined the team in 1997-98 is the best in the NBA during that stretch, and represents the highest winning percentage of any team in the four major team sports.
